Artist Statement - I paint because I enjoy it. I enjoy it because it allows me to create life where previously there was none. It helps me not to escape from reality but to create a different reality. One where I can share myself with others. Where I am able to share my vision and ideas.
I paint for myself. I chose subjects that I would like to see. Subjects that are meaningful or intriguing to me. Reflections of my mood can also be felt in my subject selections.
I feel that the most important aspect of my art is the finished product.
It is not the materials I chose to work with nor the process of creating. It is the effect the piece has on the viewer, the look of wonder or a glint of recognition when they realize that they have been to the place in the landscape or know the articles.
Both training and experimentation have taught me the technical aspects of art; mixing colors, preparing the surface, etc. However, the true energy of a piece reveals itself when the paint is applied to the canvas, when the charcoal hits the paper, when the magic of creation begins to glow. I am proud of my talent. It evolved through the culmination of many years of trying, failing, and trying again. I truly have been able to discover myself as I developed my passion for art and I hope that it will always connect, impact or inspire others. I feel that is the ultimate goal any artist.
